Hino Diesel Launch Hybrid Truck


Hino, specialized manufacturer of trucks from Japan which is under the Toyota group, also increasing the number of hybrid vehicles that are marketed in various countries, mainly in Japan and North America. Yesterday, Hino began to introduce hybrid trucks for the American market, which combines a diesel engine with an electric motor.

Introduced hybrid versions of these trucks are cab over engine (COE) or the engine is under the cabin. Two models are offered with hybrid drive is 155h with tonnage (gross vehicle weight or GVW), 6.5 ton and 8.8 ton tonnage195h.

Both trucks are using J05E Hino engine capacity of 5 liters and producing power 157 kW (210 PS) and 597 Nm of torque. To move the engine and electric motor power to the wheels, Hino uses automatic transmission 6-speed Aisin. For batteries, they use NiMH.

Specific technology that is added to the hybrid truck is Hybrid Adaptive Control System (Hybrid Adaptive Control System or HACS) is always communicating with the engine computer or engine control unit (ECU). In this way, driving and road conditions can be evaluated so that fuel consumption can be optimized.
